Agenda

Wisdom in the room

Lunch

Any change challenge at it’s simplest To be As is Strategy

Start with the future To be As is Strategy Working together with the right people to create a common, compelling vision

How a vision fits? Objectives Critical, measurable, specific, timed success factors that will help to achieve the vision Strategies Plans to deliver the objectives Values Guiding beliefs Mission Core purpose for the organisation A compelling Vision A picture that brings to life an attractive future for the organisation or the outcome of the change

And it gives us a common direction now then vs

Why do we need a vision as well as a clear set of objectives?..... ….because we are working with People

The Process of Creating a vision is critical to creating a compelling vision

opportunity to be more compelling pushes thinking – your’s and other’s to be more than just words easier to involve others what you do and how you are create standout And I think it’s quicker A compelling vision needs a structured creative approach:

The structure of creating our vision What outcomes will we be achieving What our organisation to be like and what will we be about in the future What do we want to move away from? - How we are, what we do now What do we want to keep? - How we are, what we do now Future Now

What do we want to move away from? What do we want to keep? What will NAGG to be like as an organisation? - for: members, partners, others Future – START HERE! Now What will we be achieving ? OUTCOMES Pictures and Words

Use words and pictures to capture what our organisation will be like in the future What NAGG will be like and be about Lets Go. Step 1 Instructions: 1)Open the pictures wallet 2)Split up into pairs or threes around the table 3)Share out the pictures between each of the pairs or threes 4)Choose select and cut out a few pictures that give you a feeling of how you would want NAGG to be like in the future 5)Using post it notes write down the words that these pictures make you feel 6)Share with the group your words and pictures 7)Stick them down in the “how we will be like zone” on the template What will NAGG be like for our members, partners and other organisations we work with

Step 2 Outcome(s) What outcomes will NAGG be achieving ? Instructions: 1)Individually capture on post it notes the KEY outcomes we want to be achieving 2)Share these together 3)As a group create a maximum of 5 outcomes and write these in the “outcomes zone” on the template

Step 3 What do we want to keep? Think about what is great about NAGG now – what do we need to retain in order to achieve our vision? - How we are and what we do Instructions: 1)Together as a group identify the things we want to retain as an organisation – think about the things that we do AND how we are 2)Write these down in the “keep zone” on the template

Step 4 What do we want to move away from? What are the things that we want/need to move away from in order to achieve our vision of the future Instructions: 1)Together as a group identify the things we want or need to move away from as an organisation – think about the things that we do AND how we are 2)Write these down in the “move away from zone” on the template

Ideas to inform the strategy To be As is Strategy Ideas to inform the strategy

Idea generation: Issue generated ideas Generate the ideas – Using the “issue/idea” sheets generate solutions to overcome these issues Remember “No Issue without an Idea”

Idea generation: New radical ideas Let your creativity flow - Think or some completely different ways we could achieve our vision Don’t be constrained by the past or even what is possible Use the radical ideas sheets “if you can dream it you can do it” Walt Disney

Conclusions and Next steps
