Catalog Description CAP 4063 Web Application Design (3) EN ESB PR: COP 4530 (Data Structures) Analysis, design, and development of software that operates on web servers and web browsers, supporting multiple concurrent users. 2

3 Course Objectives/Outcomes You will be able to: Develop web applications using ASP.NET. Write object-oriented software for server-side processing in web applications. Use a relational database in ASP.NET applications. Write JavaScript software for client-side processing in web applications. Use AJAX techniques to provide an enhanced user experience in web applications. Note: This is not a course on graphic design and not a course in mobile device programming.

6 Exams and Grading Grading: Projects40% Midterm Exam 20% Final Exam 40% Exams will be written in class. Open book, notes, computer, etc. Projects will be developed out of class. Use your own computer or on-campus labs. You may work in groups of 2 or 3. OK to work along if you prefer.

7 Exams and Grading Exams missed for a legitimate reason can and must be made up. Consult me, in advance when possible, to arrange makeup exam.

8 Letter Grades 90 – 100 A 80 – 89 B 70 – 79 C 60 – 69 D < 60 F No “+” or “-” grades will be issued. Numerical average will be rounded to nearest integer..5 rounded up

13 Course Policies Attendance will not be taken after the first class. Attendance will not be a direct factor in grades. But class attendance is highly recommended. You may not sell notes or tapes of class lectures. OK to give them away!

14 Course Policies Programming projects will be graded. You may work with one or two other students on each project. OK to work alone if you prefer. If you work as a pair or in a group: One student submits the program. Include all names in Canvas submission comments. Other students submit just a Canvas comment saying who they worked with. All students are expected to contribute. All students are expected to understand the program in detail. All students will get the same grade.

15 Course Policies Projects must be submitted on time. Late projects will incur a penality of 10 points per hour after the deadline. Don't post assignments on the Internet Don't ask for help on Internet forums.

16 Course Policies It is OK to discuss projects with other students, but outright copying is not acceptable. Don’t copy anyone else’s work. Don’t let anyone copy your work. Penalty: 0 for the project. Reduction of one letter grade for the course.
