Solving A System of Equations Kimberly Perez & Jacqueline Moreno December 18, – 8 A

Problem Situation A travel agent offers two package vacation plans. The first plan costs $400 and includes 3 days at a hotel and a rental car for 2 days. The second plan costs $550 and includes 4 days at a hotel and a rental car for 3 days. The daily charge for the room and the car is the same under each plan. Find the cost per day for the room and for the car.

Define Variables H = cost of the hotel room for one day C = cost of the rental car

System of Equations 3H + 2C = 400 4H + 3C = 550

Solution Method For the solution method were going to be using guess and check using a table. H C 3H + 2C4H + 3C 70903*70 + 2*90=3904*70 + 3*90 = *80 + 2*80=4004*80 + 3*80 = *90 + 2*65=4004*90 + 3*65 = * *50=4004* *50 = 550

Solution to the System of Equations  (C, H) (50, 100)

Solution in the Problem Situation The cost of the hotel room for one day is $100. The cost of the rental car for one day is $50.
