Welcome to ESL, 1/5/11 Warm Up: – Pick up your ESL notebook – Turn and talk: Which kind of note taking format should you use for this passage: “Titanic was the largest ship in the world- as long as four city blocks. Many people called it the “wonder ship”. It was like a floating palace, with a swimming pool, carved wood and fancy gold lights. It also had many rich and famous passengers.”

Do: Use text and film to determine which note taking format is most fitting. Step 2: Use this evidence to help you write a LONG claim paragraph that includes: – A claim about your character – At least 3 pieces of evidence – At least 3 explanations explaining WHY the evidence supports your claim. – A conclusion sentence or two. – have a strong argument where everything ties back to the claim – Tip: Don’t use “I” in your paragraph
