Important Notes Most of earth’s surface is covered with water. The smallest continent is Australia. The largest is Asia. Parallels of latitude circle Earth from west to east. Meridians of longitude runs from the North Pole to the South Pole. 0 latitude is the Equator. The North Pole is 90 north latitude and the South Pole is 90 south latitude. 0 longitude is the Prime Meridian 180 longitude is the International Dateline. It is exactly halfway around the world from the Prime Meridian. 231/2 north latitude is the Tropic of Cancer 231/2 south latitude is the Tropic of Capricorn Everything between those lines are the Tropics
