Communication Committee CSC Report July 2011

Committee Purpose Improve communication within CoDA, both up and down the inverted pyramid Work towards ensuring that every codependent throughout the world has access to information about CoDA

Committee Members Evie S, SoCal, Chair Allan B, SoCal Doug P, FL Eric S, CO Florence H, MD Geff R, WA Leo C, SoCal Liz W, PA Shari A, AZ (not continuing for next year)

Accomplishments Began development of a new telephone answering process with 3 primary goals: – Significantly cut costs – Have CoDA volunteers handle all calls – Have Spanish language messages and Spanish speaking volunteers available on all numbers list enrollments increased dramatically Developed 12 educational documents sent out via announcement list

Accomplishments (cont.) Worked with two other committees to develop and send a message, in early March, to the CoDA board expressing concerns about their lack of transparency. We are still awaiting a response. Thanks to previous year motions most committee submissions of motions and budgets were submitted on time or only slightly late. Active participation of chair as part of the Chairs Forum which has resulted in dramatic increase in communication among the committee chairs Complete list available in report on website

Goals for Next Year At this and all future CSCs have 2 members attend – Will capture background information on motions and activities on the floor – Develop and distribute an easily understandable summary report via the announcement list Look at ways to reach communities and/or meetings that don’t have representation at CSC

Goals for Next Year (cont.) Ask the CoDA Board to create a new Fellowship Services worker position to handle the CoDA Lists process Oversee implementation of the new telephone response process utilizing CoDA volunteers Continue to monitor and improve the process of getting fellowship input to VE delegates prior to CSC Develop a CSC inclusion proposal that will allow increased participation Complete list available on website
