Agents of Erosion
Water Erosion Running water is the major agent of erosion that has shaped the earth’s surface.
Waves Waves receive their energy from the wind.
Gravity Example of gravitational erosion Landslide - rock and soil slide quickly down a steep slope Mudslide -water, rock and soil move rapidly downhill.
Slump – One large mass of rock and soil suddenly slip down a slope Creep – A very slow downhill movement of rock and soil.
Wind Wind by itself is the weakest agent of erosion. Deflation- The process by which wind removes surface materials.
Glaciers Glacier- Any large mass of ice that moves slowly over land.
