Revised Standards for grades 3, 5, 8 and 11 have been approved by the State Board of Education. Standard statements for grades 4, 6, 7 and courses are proceeding through the approval process. Materials & Resources: Learning Progressions Copyright ©2010 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 Student Achievement Clear Standards Materials & Resources Instruction Interventions Fair Assessments Curriculum Framework Learning progressions illustrate how students grow academically and articulate what they are learning at each grade level. They can be defined as roads or pathways that students travel as they progress toward mastery of the skills needed for career and college readiness. Each road follows a route composed of a collection of building blocks that are defined by the content standards for a subject.

Fair Assessments Summative Assessment: seeks to make an overall judgment of progress made at the end of a defined period of instruction. Formative Assessment: used by teachers and students during instruction to provide ongoing feedback to adjust ongoing teaching and learning to improve students’ achievement of intended instructional outcomes. Fair Assessments Benchmark Assessment: Designed to provide feedback to both the teacher and the student about how the student is progressing towards demonstrating proficiency on grade level standards.
