SmartConnect The current functions are: Creation of database records. Storing of digital photographs Storing of scanned paper applications (including signature for DPA consents) Interface to smartcard printer for full colour printing of white cards or overprinting of branded cards Initialisation of Mifare or JCOP 30 16k chips Revocation and reissue for lost or stolen cards

Future It all depends … £75k ODPM seed corn remainder of budget will come from Licence fees Local Government will vote with its budgets
