Service Delivery Aims Develop harm reduction initiatives in partnership with other agencies to reduce the incidence of drug related injuries, physical and psychological morbidity and mortality

Our response – Overdose Training and provision of Take Home Naloxone Training to service users, family members, staff at risk of witnessing overdose Training includes Prevention Intervention Provision of naloxone

How are we doing so far? April 2010 until Present –124 Training Sessions delivered to 294 service users, 173 staff members and 11 family members –186 New Supplies of THN distributed –20 Replacement Supplies –9 REPORTED SAVES

Hepatitis C Virus - National Epidemic 50-60,000 thought to be infected in Scotland Approx 90% within injecting drug users 1 in 5 will clear the virus naturally – –80% won’t

Our response Increase awareness of BBV’s Increase provision of injecting equipment Increase opportunistic testing for clients at risk Improve testing methods Increase referral to treatment services Increase referral to support services

How are we doing so far? Developed a Testing Protocol for Addiction Services Introduction of DBST in June 2011 Testing to September 2011 –67 DBST = 18 HCV –16 referred to BBV Services
