ILLINOIS DRIVER’S LICENSE Approved driver education programs consist of at least 30 successful classroom hours. Once classroom is completed and blue card is received, you may be eligible to receive a permit if you are between the ages of 15-17. Questions: What is does a permit allow you to do? ILLINOIS DRIVER’S LICENSE Under what conditions can you legally drive with an instruction permit? Parent/guardian/instructor/responsible adult At least 21 years of age With a valid driver’s license At least one year of driving experience

ILLINOIS DRIVER’S LICENSE Instruction permit Cost ($20.00) Good for 24 months beyond issue date (if you do not receive your license within this time, you may be required to pay an additional fee) Must be held at least 9 months (16+) before one can obtain an Illinois Driver’s License

ILLINOIS DRIVER’S LICENSE To obtain your drivers license: The Illinois Secretary of State must receive a completion date from the Board of Education. Renewing Your license The state will notify you in writing about 90 days before your license expires therefore: The law requires you to notify the state within 10 days of an address change. Persons with clean driving records may be able to renew online or go to the Drivers Service facility only once every 8 years under the Safe Driver Renewal (must be between 22-74 with a SS number)

Illinois Driver’s License If you lose your license, you must go to the facility to obtain another and pay for it ($5). To correct your license, you must go to a Driver’s Services facility and pay for it ($5). 30 days for a name change 10 days for an address change
