© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 4 | Menu Changes 4 Made Corridor Modeling more easily accessible via menu changes

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 5 | Smart Update Prompt 5 Upon opening the CM application, the alignments and profiles in the GPK as well as the plan graphics elements will be checked against those residing in the ALG. If changes have been made then the following prompt will be issued:

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 6 | Plan Graphics > Filter Tolerances 6 XM V8i

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 7 | Horizontal Filter Tolerance 7 < Horizontal Tolerance? < Horizontal?

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 8 | Vertical Filter Tolerance 8 < Vertical Tolerance? No – then leave the point in Yes – then remove the point

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 9 | ALG Viewer 9 Allows the user to Visualize and Delete alignments from the ALG database.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 10 | 10

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 11 | Tools > Export Profile 11 Allows the exporting of profiles created in Roadway Designer to be exported back to the GPK for review, printing and modification.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 12 | 12

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 13 | Tools > Draw Roadway from Template 13 Draws the 2D roadway graphics from a specified template.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 14 | 14

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 15 | TIN DTM Conversions 15 In previous versions, this conversion was done via the use of XML. However, this has been replaced with an API (program) that does an internal conversion. This greatly increases both the speed of conversion and the accuracy. For example, a 60mb TIN will convert to a DTM in about 30 seconds.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 17 | Constraint Equations 17 Added the ability to specify constraint values using equations.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 18 | 18

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 19 | ‘Project to Design’ Constraint 19 Added two new options to be used with the ‘Project to Design’ constraint.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 20 |

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 21 | Overlay 21 A complete new set of Overlay tools within Roadway Designer that give the us the following capabilities: Cross Slope Optimization Critical Point Assessment Adjust, Smooth and Apply Vertical Profiles Estimate Project Costs

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 22 | 22

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 23 | Vertical Gore Tool 23 Creates a profile envelope of a ramp that merges into a mainline corridor. The tool produces profiles which are designed to be plotted on the profile of the ramp alignment. These profiles specify the allowable maximum and minimum elevations of the ramp vertical alignment, as well as the ideal locations to make the gore cross slope match the mainline and ramp cross slopes.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 25 | Create Surface > Components 25 In V8 i (SELECTseries 1), we added the ability to draw the proposed surface as ‘Components’ as well as Features. Components allow for much better detail and rendering capabilities.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 26 | Create Surface > Components 26

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 27 | Create Surface > Components 27

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 28 | 28

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 29 | Create Surface (TIN) 29 In previous versions of Roadway Designer, we would create an associated XML file along with the DTM surface file. Now, we go ahead and create the associated TIN file along with the DTM surface.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 30 | Corridor Symbology 30 When designing a project with multiple corridors, the user can now assign a different style (symbology) to each corridor for display purposes. This is especially helpful when using the Target Aliasing functionality within Roadway Designer.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 31 | 31

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 32 | Component Name Overrides 32 When creating surfaces, this new functionality enables the surface to close the ‘gaps’ between components with different names.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 33 | 33

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 34 | Superelevation Design Check 34 Added an option in the Curve Set Station Edit dialog to allow a user to check superelevation data against design standards.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 35 | Added ‘Fill’ attribute to XIN 35 Added a new option in the XIN file to enable the ability to ‘fill’ closed components in Roadway Designer.

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 36 | 36

© 2009 Bentley Systems, Incorporated 37 | XML Report Browser 37 Added reporting capabilities to Roadway Designer. Superelevation Reports Roadway Designer (.IRD) Reports Template Library (.ITL) Reports Milling Reports
