Passport Photos This is the first page from the passport booklet that was my mom’s Nonna. Nonna is Italian for Grandmother. This is a photo of her when she came to America. Her name was Assiamira Gallucci Panone. She died less than two years after she came to the United States.

Passport Pictures Cont. This is a picture of my mom’s Nonno from his passport. We have the original passports for Ettore and Assiamira. This is the cover page of my mom’s Nonno’s passport booklet. Nonno is Italian for Grandfather. My mom’s grandfather’s name was Ettore Panone.

This is a Certificate of Naturalization for Ettore Panone. When Ettore applied to become an American Citizen this was the document that made him legal.

Ettore Panone Ettore Panone was my mom’s Nonno. He came to America by way of New York from Italy in Coming to America from Italy took a long time. The best way to travel was by ship across the ocean. He was born in Italy in the year 1891.

Ettore Panone He came to work in the coal mines in Pennsylvania in the year He did this to raise money to support his family that made the journey with him.

Where he came from and where he lived He came from Italy and moved to Pennsylvania to work in the mines there. His brother Vincenzo worked in the mines and got him a job. Ettore worked in Pennsylvania and saved up money to send back to Italy for his family. He went back to Italy in 1928 and got married that same year to. He travelled back to Pennsylvania in 1930 and his wife followed in 1936.

This is a photograph of Assiamira and her sister Ersilia. My Nonna (Assiamira‘sdaughter) was not born yet but her brother, Berndardo is the little toddler boy in the picture.

These are pictures of the ships that traveled from Italy to New York. When they arrived in New York they took the train to Pennsylvania.
