You Can Be a STAR!

Where do you feel these feelings? Feelings are something you feel in your body… How do you feel when you feel? Happy Scared Sad Mad Where do you feel these feelings?

Feelings can change like the weather  Sunny  Partly Cloudy  Gray Skies  Rainy  Stormy

Some signs you might be getting stormy are… Tears Hot face Feelings of confusion Tight muscles Tight jaw Dizziness/ shallow breathing Fast heart beat Clenched fist What do you feel when you are stormy?

It’s OK to be stormy, but it’s important to stay in control A car that is in control can take you many places…

…while a car out of control rarely gets you where you need to go.

One way to stay in control is to become a STAR STAR stands for… Stop  Think  Act  Review 

When you start to feel stormy,

…it’s time to STOP…

…and calm down.

Here are some things that might help you get calm:  Deep breaths   Count to 10  Use a fidget  Find a quiet place  Walk  Exercise  Listen to music  Write or draw  Read 1,2,3,4,5, 6,7,8,9,10

When you are calm, you can THINK about the problem…

Use the problem solving wheel

Think of solutions that are… Safe Respectful, and Responsible

If you get stuck, you can ask an adult for help.

Once you’ve made a good choice, you can ACT it out.

Then REVIEW your actions and decide if you made a good choice
