ΕΚΚΝΑ: Special Youth Detention Center Avlona Greece.

The Detention Center

Few information EKKNA is an ex-military prison which resides 50km north from Athens and confines the vast majority of Greek juvenile offenders, both inmates waiting trial and convicted, age between 15 to 21. EKKNA has, on an average basis, approximately 330 inmates. The average time in custody for the inmates of the setting is approximately 5 years

Education setting Within the correctional setting operates, the last 12 years, a primary and secondary school (six years of attendance in accordance to 6-12 years old), a three year gymnasium (in accordance to years old) and a three year lyceum (in accordance to years old). The gymnasium and the lyceum function under one administrative unit while the primary and secondary school are on a separate unit.
