BIN FREE MAC What, When, Why, and How

Goal: Phase out rubbish bins at MAC We generate less rubbish: Minimisation We are aware that rubbish is resource use and waste We take responsibility Our community reduces its waste too

Why? We had 37 rubbish bins It took 252 hours to deal with them It costs $7800 to get them removed We still had litter!

When? End of term 2 BIN FREE MAC End of term 1 Half number of bins Now: Raising awareness Reducing bins

How? TAKE YOUR RUBBISH HOME Avoid packaging in your lunchbox Don’t litter! It’s that Simple!

Rewards With the savings we will buy solar panels Gotcha cards for  taking responsibility for their rubbish or  Showing your package free lunchbox to Team Green (Wednesday lunchtime in the library) One of the first high school in NZ to go Rubbish- free
