Ruth 2:6-13 and how you left your father and your mother and the land of your birth, and came to a people that you did not previously know. Why this road? Humility produces honest and direct prayers. Joshua and the leaders of Israel tore their clothing in dismay, threw dust on their heads, and bowed down facing the Ark of the L ORD Joshua 7:6

Why this road? Humility is good training in obedience. My father, had the prophet told you to do some great thing, would you not have done it? 2 Kings 5:13

Why this road? Humility clarifies our dependence on God (1) God's ways are always best. (2) God wants our obedience more than anything else. (3) God can use anything.
