Effective Study Habits Is Online Learning Right for You?

Objectives Identify effective study strategies and techniques. Identify strategies for improving short- and long-term memory.

Developing Good Study Habits 1.Take great notes 2.Make flashcards 3.Write down key words 4.Ask your instructor for clarification

Set Aside a Place to Study 1.Create a special study place 2.Keep your supplies in one place 3.Make sure it is quiet 4.Use good lighting

Set Aside Scheduled Time to Study 1.Select a special time to study 2.Review notes for the test on your scheduled time 3.Schedule three or four shorter study times a week 4.Study when you are awake!

Break Up a Large Project Into Manageable Pieces Start working on an assignment or project as soon as it is announced. Assignment!! Create a portfolio in the form of an annotated bibliography with a minimum of 15 resources for your profession (minimum of three for each category). These can include brochures, organizations, books, articles, web sites (no more than twelve websites) and more. Your portfolio should be structured using the following outline. This should also have an annotated bibliography outlining each resource. Please use the link from the KUWC to help you with your annotated bibliography, which is located under the Reading Icon. Please know that how you respond to the five categories below is going to be unique to your specific degree program, and career goals. Please feel free to refer to websites in previous units, such as those under the Extra! Extra tab, or the Reading Icon, as resources to help you in your research.
