Introduction to the Module CTEC2608 Multimedia and Internet Technology

WARNING! There are two things I can guarantee about this module 1. You will need to work hard and consistently (The first deadline is only 3 weeks away!) 2. You will have fun doing the work for the module if you take it seriously

You will learn how to… Plan your multimedia projects Document multimedia artefacts Create a range of multimedia Critique each other’s work Use a range of software Understand how multimedia data is stored

Module Delivery Pattern 1 X 1 hour lecture every six weeks eLectures for other weeks During the lecture you will be presented with the background technical theory to the practical sessions in the lab Not every week of the module will have a lecture! 1 X 2 hour lab session The lab is your opportunity to obtain hands on experience of the software / technology related to the module You need to put in seven hours a week of your own time! That’s one hour every day of the week!

Assessment A portfolio of work consisting of four media products Media Product 1– Web Page Creation Media Product 2 – Digital Imaging Media Product 3 – Animation Media Product 4 – Audio Video Each media product is worth 25% Your work will go in the public domain! (Just like in the real world!) Register your topic by week 2

FTP Submission Your work for the portfolio is to be submitted via the ftp portal username ctec2608 passwordctec2608 Check that you have a folder set up for the first assignment – if not let me know

Each Web Site will Consist of… 1. The Web Site 2. The media product 3. All documentation used in creating the site Be sure to read the assignment spec carefully!
