SCOTT HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PROJECTS

Business etiquette is defined as the "code of a polite society," according to Sharon Pierce- Williams of the Pi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. How well you observe the social norms of the business world has a direct correlation to how you communicate with potential clients. Also, people with good business etiquette tend have more confidence and be seen as more capable by their peers.

 Understand the difference between business etiquette and social etiquette. Business etiquette is genderless. In the work environment, men and women are peers.  Your guiding principle should always be to treat people with consideration and respect.

Regardless of your specific field, you need to successfully navigate any business challenge by learning:  How to deal with "higher-ups"  How to understand the company culture and become part of the team  How to communicate with your colleagues without offending  How to polish your social skills for success

1. Everyone Has a Role—learn them and respect them. The most important thing to remember is to be courteous and thoughtful to the people around you, regardless of the situation. It’s about relationships. 2. In Meetings—be prepared and respectful

3. Prompt Communication 4. Use—be careful, be clear and to the point, use proper language 5. Respect Others' Time—avoid interruptions and get to the point

6. Keep Your Boss Informed—provide info on progress, delays, concerns 7. Time—respect it by being on time

8. Dress for Success— err on the side of caution 9. Respect Other Cultures 10. Remember the Basics—please, thank you, you’re welcome
