St. Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School

Teacher-Pupil Feedback Report by QA Team on AFL in relation to homework led to adoption of new approach. Focus on enhancing the quality of feedback from teacher to pupil and pupil response to such feedback. Feedback focused on subject specific quality indicators set by Departments.

St. Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School Process to date Baseline set by ‘book scoops’ (HOD/SLT) and pupil voice exercise (50 Year 8 pupils completed survey with SLT). Teacher-Pupil feedback made a PRSD objective. Evidence to be gathered using a collegiate, Department based, book share once per term. ‘Rerun’ of the pupil voice exercise in May.

St. Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School Improving learning and teaching Began under the auspices of the Lesson Study programme using 3/2 teachers Detailed planning and observation of lessons. Feedback to all staff. Expanded programme Pupils and Departments identified the characteristics of a good lesson using GTCNI criteria.

St. Mary’s Christian Brothers’ Grammar School Twenty volunteers signed up (no SLT) Training of teachers on giving effective feedback. Teachers identified areas they wished to develop. Teachers paired. Cover provided to allow teachers to observe one another and provide feedback. Teachers share feedback and new areas for development agreed. Process rerun. Best practice shared with all staff.
