Digital Citizenship 9/23/2013

The iPad is cool, but how do I stay out of trouble? Image:

Learning Target I can learn how to use my iPad responsibly. Success Criteria: – I can create a passcode. – I can list 3 rules that will keep me out of trouble with my iPad.

Can other people get me into trouble? If you don’t set a passcode, anyone can get into your iPad and cause you problems! Passcodes: 4 numbers Make sure you will remember these numbers

Can other people get me into trouble? Remember: Passwords and passcodes are private. You should never share your password and NEVER attempt to “hack” someone’s password.

1) Open Settings 2) Select General and Passcode Lock If you have to change your passcode:

Choose wisely!

Can I bypass security? No! If you try to change the settings you are violating the “Acceptable Use Policy” and you will lose the privilege of having an iPad. Do NOT attempt to “jailbreak” your iPad. If you do, it will not work at school and you will lose all of your work. This also is a violation of the “Acceptable Use Policy” that you signed

Does my iPad need to rest? Yes! Don’t take it to bed with you. You and the iPad both need rest! – Make sure it’s charging – Make sure it’s someplace where it won’t be bothered. Image:

Does my iPad ever need a break? YES! Really, you need a break from it. – Put it down when you are listening in class. – Don’t forget to talk to people. Your iPad is a good friend, but don’t let it be your only friend! Image:

But what about the internet? It’s not the “real” world, can I really get into trouble on the internet? YES! Lots of kids get in trouble on the internet everyday. Remember the internet is part of the real world, and choices you make there will affect your life. Image:

How much info is just too much? Keep in mind: Identity Theft…it’s not just a movie! Stranger danger is real on the internet. Would you be okay with your grandma seeing what you’ve posted?

What did they do wrong? Queenbee1234: I hate Algebra!!!!! Skaterdude14: I sooo sympathize – my math teacher gave me 28 problems for homework. Melanie13: You guys are so smart, I’m just in regular math. Skaterdude14: Really – what school do you go to? Melanie13: Brinnett Palms, its in Miami Florida. Coolio: You are sooo lucky girl, I live in stinking Wisconsin. I never get to sunbathe. TYlerkid: I live in Hawaii – love the waves. Queenbee1234: I always wanted to visit Hawaii – My mom and sisters think I’m stupid since I live near the water anyway.
