Trans-NIH Action Plan 2007 Goal: Reduce the morbidity and mortality of those on waiting lists through research to increase organ availability and develop technologies that improve and prolong the function of failing organs. Advance promising product leads for organ-assist and replacement technologies via SBIR/STTR program. Programs to educate and encourage organ donation. Investigate tissue engineering as a means to repair, and maintain organ function.

Trans-NIH Action Plan 2007 Goal: Reduce the morbidity and mortality of those on waiting lists through development of alternatives to whole organ transplantation and the need for human organ donors. Explore the potential of xenotransplantation : facilitate research on pig-to-nonhuman-primate Explore the potential of stem and progenitor cells to repair organ functions. Investigate tissue engineering as a means to replace organ function.

Potential Donor Classification
