Environment By: Anxhelo Taho, Jack Foley, and Andrew Jayne

 For decades, USSR leaders were determined to turn their country into an industrial force. They didn’t give a thought about what may happen to the environment. This was, in fact, a BIG MISTAKE. This was such a big that it pushed the environmentally friendly Russia on to the ground.

 Coal-burning factories sent chemicals into the air  Toxic wastes and untreated sewage were dumped into rivers.  Pesticides and heavy metals poisoned the soil in many areas.  Radioactive wastes were emptied into seas and rivers throughout the USSR.  The many large oil spills were never cleaned up.
