How was WIGICC created? WIGICC was created through a process initiated by WLIA, as a strategy for coordinating geographic information statewide First Network Meeting

What is WIGICC? Vision Be the main stakeholder-governed, statewide organization that provides leadership and direction for the cooperative development, use and sustainability of geographic information and technologies in Wisconsin.

What is WIGICC? Mission Facilitate the delivery of public services, encourage economic development and help to protect the public and the environment by improving the quality, accessibility, utility and value of geographic information and technologies, throughout the state. What is WIGICC? Goals –To provide statewide leadership, guidance, and strategic and business planning in the management of statewide geographic information –To foster communication, cooperation and collaboration in matters related to geographic information among local, regional, state, federal, tribal, non-profit, and private entities in the State of Wisconsin

What is WIGICC? Goals –To facilitate the equitable creation, access, sharing, and exchange of geographic information –To evaluate and promote geographic information standards, best practices, and policies –To identify potential funding to support and maintain geographic information

What is WIGICC? Goals –To advise and consult with decision makers on the appropriate use of geographic information to address critical societal issues.

Current Working Groups Economic Development Working Group –Setup to coordinate Economic Development Geospatial needs throughout the state –Co-Chairs of Workgroup - Howard Veregin, SCO and Graham Callis, Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC)

Current Working Groups Elevation Data Working Group –Setup to coordinate Elevation Data Geospatial needs throughout the state (including coordination for and development of a geospatial portal for LiDAR data) –Chair of Workgroup - JC Nelson, USGS

Current Working Groups Steering Workgroup for Statewide Data Integration –Create a statewide report/plan, documenting the current statewide data integration situation in Wisconsin and proposing actions –Co-Chairs of Workgroup - Lisa Morrison, DATCP and Jon Schwichtenberg, GRAEF

What have we accomplished? Support for SCO/DOA CAP grants –Transportation Data Integration –“Business Plan Development for a Wisconsin Aerial Imaging Program” –Potential CAP grant submittal for “Parcels and PLSS Monumentation Business Plan Development”

What have we accomplished? Statewide Homeland Security GIS Strategic Plan –Support for the submittal of the plan to the legislature/committees –Support through future assistance with plan items

What have we accomplished? WROC 2010 Statewide Aerial Photography Initiative –Support of the original WROC plan –Coordination of $400,000 federal funding (submittal for and securing of the funds)

What have we accomplished? Statewide Data Integration Plan For Wisconsin –Document Existing Conditions –Document Current Needs –Develop Alternative Solutions –Develop Plan To Implement Kroll Report State Agency Land Information Plans Ramona Survey County Plans

Voice of Geospatial Community? Working with DPI/others on ESRI grant opportunities Communicated Wisconsin opinion on Light-Squared GPS interference issues to FCC

Representing Geospatial Community on Legislative Activities –AB 271 – Surveyor’s Bill –AB 303 – Comp Planning Bill –Redistricting Amendments – SB-148, SB-149 and SB-150 –DOA Budget Lapse Plans –Deer Czar Report Support –LION Proposal for WLIP Modifications –LION Proposal for $5 Redaction Fee Sunset

Voice of Geospatial Community? Developing relationships with key Groups/Associations in the state regarding geospatial activities –Communicating with NENA/APCO on NextGen 911 and other state 911 issues –Presidents Council Participation –Encouraging council participation from groups like WEDC, WSLS, NENA, APCO, DPI, others –Assisting in key meetings with legislators, state agencies and key special interest groups

Current Activities? Submittal of Permanency Request to the Governor’s Office –Submitted in July 2012 –Meetings in September and December with Governor’s Staff, DOA and other agencies –Waiting for budget initiatives
