Geospatial Technology in Support of Teaching and Learning Presentation to ABCD-TIE | 9/8/2014 By: Jeff Blossom, Stacy Bogan, Fei Carnes, Giovanni Zambotti, Ben Lewis. Center for Geographic Analysis, Harvard.

CGA’s mission: to support research and education that relies on geographic information. Our services include: Maintaining help desks in both campuses; Consulting with students, faculty, and staff on research and teaching projects; Consulting on grant proposals; Providing non-credit group instruction in geospatial software applications on a regular basis; Assessing, organizing, financing for, and maintaining university site licenses for software; Providing hardware and support for geospatial tools; Undertaking initiatives that improve the university infrastructure in relation to geographic analysis.

Service (help desk, consultation, projects, equipments, licenses, etc. Teaching (courses, institutes, workshops, conferences, etc.) Platform development (WorldMap, Google Map API, ArcGIS Server, etc.)

CGA’s Non-Credit Training 2 hour instructor led training workshops on various topics, offered Friday’s throughout both semesters: – ArcGIS – QuantumGIS – Google Earth – WorldMap – GPS Mapping – Remote Sensing – Spatial Analysis – Database Design – ArcGIS Online – Google Mapping Products Thinking Geographically

CGA’s One Day Workshops: Cartography Harvard Center for Geographic Analysis Cartography Workshop May 8, 2014 Instructors: Jeff Blossom Matthew Wilson Objectives: To become familiar with the fundamental principles of cartography. To gain experience creating both general reference maps and thematic maps that communicate particular phenomena. To gain an introductory level of familiarity with ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, and MangoMap software. Learning some map design basics.
