Quiz (test grade) and Notebook Checks (daily/participation grade) on Friday!!!!!!!!!! FCCLA meeting on Wednesday- Ms. Penhale’s room at 3:00 The next Lab will be Tuesday the 16 th - BANANA PANCAKES!!!!

If you KNEW you were about to be stuck on a boat in the middle of no-where, on top of a body of water that did not have any fish in it….. What 3 things would you make sure you had with you?

Food plays a part in your life in ways you would never think.  Physical  Wellness  Security/Belonging  Enjoyment  Culture  Family/Friends  Social Media  Emotions  Values and Priorities

TOP 3: 1. Availability 2. Income and Prices of Food 3. Advertisement and Media

 Food supplies you with the nutrients you need.  Nutrients-chemicals from food that your body uses to carry out it’s functions.  Nutrition- the study of nutrients and how they are used in your body

 Wellness- a philosophy that encourages people to take responsibility for their own health. Wellness decisions influence your health, include the following:  The food choices you make  The amount of physical activity you get  How you manage your feelings and emotions  How you handle certain social situations

 When you think of the following events, what food do you associate with it?  Football Game  Wedding  Birthday party  Christmas  Thanksgiving

Food is used as a reason to socialize!  Food played a role in your current feelings of security. -infants first learn to feel secure when they are fed -food helps promote ‘bonds’ between people (tests show that by appeasing hunger, it brings comfort)

 What are your three favorite foods?  Why are you all always asking me, when is the next time we are going to cook??

 Food brings enjoyment into the lives of people.  Food satisfies the senses and makes you feel better.  Enjoyment comes as much from creating it as it does from eating.  Sharing what you made with others brings even greater joy.
