The order Carnivore By: Brian Krempasky

Mustelids- Weasels Mustelids include skunks, mink, fisher, and ermine (short tailed weasel) Weasels are characterized buy there musk and slender body type. Most weasels are veracious predators, how ever the skunk is more of a scavenger and insect eater. Keen sense of sight sound and smell

Ursus Americanus- Black Bear Bears are the largest omnivores in the state eating up to 75 percent plant matter. Often eating insects as an easy protein source. Having short flat feet, round stature, black fur and short legs, the black bear is PA’s most recognizable species.

Procyon Lotor- Raccoon The raccoon of PA has a pointed muzzle with ‘bandit like’ patches around the eyes and grizzled grey hair. A nocturnal animal residing in woodlands near a water source. Highly adaptable living where ever it can find shelter.

Felis- Bobcat Are a fairly small predator about larger then a fox smaller then a coyote. Extremely rare they are only scene in remote and rural areas of the state. They were trapped heavily in the late eighteen hundreds and early nineteen hundreds. Just in the passed decade they are beginning to return generally unnoticed by the public, they remain elusive.

Canis Latrans- Coyote The coyote looks like a small German Shepard in situate and color. Extremely adaptable, living in both urban and rural areas. Extremely efficient hunters, hunting everything from field mice to adult deer.
