Problem Motivation

Problem Motivation

Problem Motivation

Problem Description America's getting bigger......but people find it hard to eat healthy.

General solutions (Zagat) (GrubHub) (Yelp) (Urbanspoon) (Google Reviews)

Specific solutions (Healthymap) (VegOut) (HappyCow) (Healthy Dining Finder) (Good Food Near You)

Problems with Current Solutions Too Broad Too Limited Inaccurate Results Unpleasant to Use

Design Process - 3 Tasks 1) User can login and quickly find a place to eat. 2) User can find a specific place to eat. 3) User can write a review for a place they've eaten at.

Design Process - Sketching

Design Process - Lo-Fi Prototype

Design Process - Lo-Fi Prototype Revisions

Design Process - Interactive Prototype

Study Method Lo-Fi Prototyping 5 Participants (sociology, communication, biology, art history, government) Location: McKeldin Library, Stamp Student Union Prototype: Paper Interactive Prototype 3 Participants (psychology, music education, criminology) Location: South Campus Diner Prototype: JQuery Mobile Methodology Participant introduced to project, goals, and prototype. Participant given three tasks to complete. Participant asked for overall feedback.

Video – Live Demo and Study Results

Video Notes Lo Fi Overall learned it needed to be simpler and clearer Redesigned home screen to be very simple Redesigned application navigation – Consolidated most actions under profile page – Cut redundancies Cut heatmaps Other small changes such as list sorting, icon changes, simplified reviews, etc. Interactive Prototype Overall learned users wanted a more functional prototype. Users got caught up in lack of live data and visual cues. Mainly learned of things we already knew we needed to implement and improve. Overall, study participants liked the app and found it easy to use.

Future Work Additions to future prototypes include: User preferences Onboarding Cues and labels Visuals Live data

Conclusion SmartNoms works to make eating out healthy easy through automatic recommendations based on your needs and likes.
