Congratulations! Since adopting a healthier lifestyle you’ve lost weight, gained more energy and probably feel happier in yourself. So it’s only natural you’ll be worried about slipping back into your old habits once the 12 weeks are up The good news is that you’ve already made some positive lifestyle changes. Maintaining them simply means continuing to adopt the habits that helped you lose the weight!

Tips for continued success 1. Diet Eat a healthy, balanced diet of protein, fruit and vegetables, fibre and good fats. Cut down on portion sizes, eat more slowly and don’t feel you have to eat everything on the plate 2. Exercise Exercise helps you feel happier and more energetic by getting the heart going, improving circulation, lowering blood pressure and assisting with weight loss. Keep it simple and you’ll find it easy to achieve the recommended 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week 3. Hydration Drink litres of water each day to remain hydrated

Top tips for staying active 4. Track your progress Keep a log of your physical activities, whether it’s losing weight, building muscle or just getting active. Keeping a log will help to motivate you 5. Make it routine One effective way to introduce a new behaviour is to make it part of your everyday life. Establish a certain time when you will do certain exercise. The sooner it becomes a part of your day, the sooner it becomes a part of your life 6. Celebrate your successes When you start seeing positive results reward yourself

What do you have to lose? Start everyday with a nutritious breakfast Eat plenty of good proteins every day Eat 5-6 small meals per day Aim to drink 2 litres of water each day Eat a wide variety of fruit and vegetables (5 + a day) Eat plenty of foods rich in Omega-3 and Omega-6 (or supplement your diet) Ensure sufficient physical exercise
