An Introduction to

Naviance is a tool to help you with getting ready for college – and much, much more! Herron subscribes to Naviance on your behalf. There are many functions and uses of Naviance; here are a few: 1.Sign-up for College Rep Visits at Herron! 2.SAT Prep. If you are going to take the SAT for the first, second or even a third time, you have a custom prep program built into Naviance called PrepMe. 3. College Searches. There are other online tools to do college searches, but Naviance will have the most up-to-date and accurate information about colleges with links to their websites and their applications.

The first time you go to Naviance, you will need to register. Click “I need to register” top right. If you already have an account, sign-in. If you forgot your password, click “forgot your password?” Try all of the different s you could have possibly registered with. Mrs. Dorsey or Ms. Hundt if you still can’t log in. Step 1: Go to: Go ahead and bookmark this site!

This is the Naviance registration screen if you have never signed in before. Type in the code which will be given to you.

Finish registering by typing in your and choosing a password.

Here is the main screen. Notice the five tabs: courses, colleges, careers, about me and my planner. Notice also the little orange tab to the left of “courses.” That’s how you get back to the home screen.

Go to your Naviance Homepage

Click on the Colleges tab.

Click on view all upcoming college visits.

Click on Information of colleges that interest you.

Read fast facts about the college.

Search for the college if you want to read even more information, see average student statistics, watch informational videos, etc.

Does the date and time work for you?

If you want to attend, click on Sign me up.

Your sign-up is confirmed. Now you wait to get permission and a pass.

Check out the PrepMe link. This is a tool to help you prep for the SAT. It will identify your weak areas and give customized practice to help you get higher scores. If you are going to take the SAT, this prep is definitely recommended!

Now click on the colleges tab.

We are now inside the “colleges” tab. When you get there, try doing the SuperMatch College Search to find colleges that you might not have considered thus far.

Here we are in the SuperMatch. Notice the choices in orange on the left. You can tell Naviance exactly what you would like in a college within each of these choices.

On the left you see the “Location” drop down choice with Indiana selected. Notice that for each college found you can Request Information, take a Web Tour or even Apply Online all from this screen.

Now the search is narrowed down to include only Indiana schools that are “Very Small.” Notice the Expand link to find out more about the college. You may already know about Franklin, Hanover Manchester and Earlham, but what about Trine University?

Here is the Expanded information about Trine University in northeast Indiana. The Expanded information gives you quick facts about and links to each college.

You can also click on the name of the college to open up a link with pictures and videos of that college.

Pin the colleges you want to remember and consider to your personal search list. Have fun with exploring and finding the college just right for you.

Try the careers tab next. There are lots of features to explore. We will come back to them throughout the year! You can log-in to Naviance as often as you’d like.
