Where our city is located? Our city is located in the centre of Greece, in the estern Thessaly.

Some information about our history… Trikala was founded around the 3 rd millenium BC. the city was an important center of antiquity, and here lived Asclepius, who today is the emblem of the Municipality of Trikala.He was the king of the city and a famous ancient doctor whose clinic has found in our city.

City’s culture! In our city, citizens occupy with many activities. In Trikala operate Philharmonic Orchestra and many dance clubs. In the Cultural Center of Municipality of Trikala also operate under the responsibility of the municipality sections of theater, puppetry, choir, painting and other arts.

Entertainment! Events are usually made at the Cultural Center in Osman Shah Mosque, the squares of the city, but also in function rooms that exist in museums and public buildings of the city like the town hall, the cultural centre ant the mill of Matsopoulos.

“SIGHTS” The Asclepion of ancient Triki,which is the oldest and most important in Greece. The Fortress of the city, which was built by Justinian over ancient Acropolis of Triki in the 6th AD century with triple wall. The 17th century was placed a huge clock on a tower, accompanied by a bell weighing 650 kg.

The Mosque of Osman Shah, which was built in the 16th century designed by Mimar Sinan. The old city, which have the districts Varousi and old Manavika. The Varousi distinguished for its beautiful mansions with ornate architectural styles. In this district are the oldest churches in the city, which are built very close to each other.

The Hill of Prophet Elias, a green place overlooking the city. In this hill is the church of the Prophet Elijah. The Litheos River and Central Bridge, which connects the main square with the pedestrian area of Asklepios. Characteristic and the statue of Asclepius on the bridge Lethaeos The central square which is full of people.

The Mill Matsopoulos, which was constructed in 1884 and today is historic-industrial park and cultural center. The building of the Railway Station located at the end of Asclepius Street. The building of S.M.Y. Architectural and historical neoclassical monument. It is α “university” in which people can become military officers.

The square Asklipiou. We couldn’t fortgot to say that the most famous place in our city is the square Aslipiou. There, it is full from cafe’s, bars, restaurants and young people.

Α remarkable building is also the metropolis of our city, Agios Nikolaos.

The mill of elves! The township haw taken the responsibility to make a nice place for Christmas. So, every year the “mill of Matsopoulos’’ is decorated in Christmas and it creates an amazing atmosphere. As a result, every year comes a huge amount of people from every place in the world to see this mill.

Meteora Near our city, there is an dazzling area, Meteora. Tourists come from every country to see these weird rocks.

Our traditional food!!! Our foods hear are very delicious and everybody who taste it for the first time is excited. Characteristic are our handmade pies. Then everybody here like sausages. Nice are also our traditional sweets like halvas, our local meats and our local cheeses.
