 Some people may need to follow a special diet because:  They may need to lose weight  They may have an illness that needs to be controlled by what they eat  Certain foods make them ill, so they have to avoid eating them

 Need a healthy diet  Have to control sugar intake  Develops when the body cannot use glucose properly  Need to maintain a healthy weight and eat a diet that conforms to healthy eating guidelines  Link to biscuits: may need a low sugar or low fat alternative- how could you do this?

 Intolerance to the protein gluten which is found in wheat, barley and rye  Foods such as bread, biscuits, cakes and pasta must be avoided  Link to biscuits: cannot have flour- what could you use instead?

 May be to lose weight  Should eat more starchy foods  Cut down on fats and sugars  Link to biscuits- what low fat or low sugar ingredients could you use?

 Increasing number of people suffer  Many products have a statement on label if contain allergens  Can cause severe reactions  Link to biscuits: are there any risky ingredients? How could you control these?
