Animals like mice love to hide under the snow so they are protected from the wind and the cold. This form of warmth is called a snow coat. Some animals like the bear for instance Hibernate. Hibernate is when a animal sleeps all winter long. Before they start sleeping they have to eat a lot of food to get the fat that keeps them warm.

Migrating is a when a bird goes south at winter to a warmer climate to find food. Some birds though actually do stay through the winter and have adapted to the climate and can find food. The birds probably go to Mexico. Mostly rodents like squirrels and chipmunks store food in a tree or in a burrow like acorns and nuts. A good example of this would be Scrat from ice age.

Some bunnies have an interesting way of avoiding predators at winter. They Turn white to blend into the snow so they are hard to notice.
