Classroom rules and procedures: “The 5 P’s” Be prompt. Be prepared. Be productive. Be polite. Be patient. “The 5 Ps”

Be on time and enter the classroom quietly. 1. Be prompt Be on time and enter the classroom quietly. Unless sharpening a pencil, go directly to your seat and sit down. Immediately get out your materials and homework. Begin working on the warm-up assignment by the time the bell rings. Just like today, every Monday, you will enter the classroom and begin copying your agenda immediately. Keep it out for Mrs. Batson to stamp. If you aren’t working on the bell ringer by the time the bell rings, then you are not prepared for class.

Keep binder organized and keep up with your belongings. 2. Be prepared Bring all materials (especially charged Chrome book) necessary work, and appropriate attire every day. Keep binder organized and keep up with your belongings. Once you enter the classroom, you are not allowed to leave again without permission and an emergency pass. Raise your hand and wait to be called on before you speak. Do not interrupt class discussions to ask for a pencil, eraser, tissue, band-aid, bathroom, etc. Wait until Mrs. Batson has moved onto another activity. Go over pencil and bathroom sign language with class.

3. Be productive Maximize learning time by staying on task and following directions the first time. Remain seated at all times unless you’ve been given permission to get up. Remember: INTERFERENCES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Listen for “3, 2, 1: TIME OUT”

4. Be polite Respect yourself, your classmates and their belongings, your teacher, and your school and classroom. Work well with others. Be productive! Know your RIGHTS, LMITS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

5. Be patient Wait respectfully and quietly for the appropriate time Listen, stay seated, and focused when someone is talking The teacher dismisses the class, not the bell Reminder: Wait until after warm-up assignment to ask questions Don’t interrupt the teacher or classroom discussions by asking to go to the bathroom, sharpen a pencil, get a tissue/hand sanitizer, etc.

7th grade bathroom policy Go during homeroom, between classes, at lunch, and at dismissal 3 emergency passes per quarter— use them wisely! If you request to go to the nurse, you will need to use one of your emergency passes. If you have used all 5 of your emergency passes for the nine weeks and you must go to the bathroom during class, you will receive a step on your ladder.

Other rules and procedures: How do I turn in work? How do I make up work? What do I do if I finish early? What is appropriate Chrome book use? Where do we go for emergency drills? What happens if I don’t turn my homework in on time? What should I do if another adult enters the room or if the class is disrupted? Listen for directions as to how to turn in work. At times, I may ask you to pass work to the front of your row. At other times, I may ask you to turn your work into the class period drawer. Do not disturb others when turning in work such as quizzes, tests, homework, etc. to the drawers.

7th Grade discipline ladder KEEP LADDER IN YOUR BINDER AT ALL TIMES 1ST STEP: Formal warning from teacher (may include a consequence of teacher’s choosing) 2ND STEP: Lunch Detention 3RD STEP: Lunch Detention, Parent Contact, and Team Meeting with Student 4TH STEP: Office Referral 5TH STEP: Office Referral *Any subsequent offenses will result in an Office Referral. Student may be given the opportunity to start over on a new ladder in Semester 2 at the discretion of the team, based on the student’s attitude and behavior.

Will you make it to soaring day? No more than 3 unexcused tardies/absences (by period) No office referrals No missing work even through Credit Recovery at Administrative Level No Chromebook violations Mandatory: Have supplies daily At the end of every nine weeks, the school will award students who work hard and meet the following criteria with with a fun day called “Soaring Day.”
