Executive Order  1) What is the purpose of issuing an executive order?  “grant of executive power” (legally binding orders given by the President)  Most executive orders stem from the president’s desire to bypass Congress, which is not required to approve executive orders, nor can it overturn one  2) What is the controversy?  Similar to the “elastic clause” in that power can be “stretched.” There’s no check by Congress on this power  3) List two examples.
