ICT in schools - Sweden Edrene - October 2011 Christina Szekely The National Agency for Education

A Digital Agenda for Sweden The new Digital Agenda for Sweden - ICT in the service of people It is very ambitious and says that: ”Sweden shall be best in the world in using the possibilities of digitalisation.” But….It says very little about how this should be achieved in schools and education

A new Education Act in Sweden 2011 Nordic Photos ”The pupils shall have free access to learning tools for a contemporary education…” 10 kap. § 10

New curricula for all levels of school education Nordic Photos One ot the goals is that when leaving primary level the pupil shall be able to use modern tools to search for knowlege, to communicate, to create and to learn”

My comments on ICT in Swedish schools  the opportunities given by information technology should be used much more efficiently  it is important to identify how subject teaching can benefit from ICT  teachers need much more in-service training  schools need more and better digital learning resources

Christina Szekely, Director of Education The National Agency for Education
