The German Comenius team presents: Wind energy in Germany and the pros and cons of household wind turbines

What type of wind turbines exist? Horizontal Axis Wind Turbines (HAWT) Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT)

Wind turbines and farms in Germany (Megawatt produced):

What household models exist generally? Here some examples...

What are the pros and cons of installing a household wind turbine? Electricity powered by the elements does not emit CO2, which is blamed for global warming. Wind can provide electricity in the summer and heat a house through winter, thereby saving money on bills. Turbines come in a range of sizes, prices and powers. One can sell excess electricity back to the national grid. cons (-) Initial costs are high Installing close to neighbours can be problematic. Dependent on wind. Local, regional, and national law sometimes makes building a turbine difficult.

Household wind turbines in Germany Unfortunately, household turbines are rare in most German states due to difficult laws, high installation costs and inconsistent wind speeds. Public interest in sound energy production, however, is creating change.
