Let’s find the square root of 27!

What are the factors of 27? Factors: Numbers you can multiply together to get another number. Factors of 27 1 27 3 9

What is the square root of 27? Is 27 a perfect square? No! Use the factors to help find the square root.

Think about this… √27 27 Factors! 9 3 3 3

So what is the square root of 27? 27 = 3 x 3 x 3 1 How many pairs of 3s can you make? Therefore, √27 = √(3x3)x3 √27 = 3√3

What is the square root of 252? 252= 2 x 2 x 3 x 3 x 7 2 How many pairs of 2s or 3s can you make? So, √252 = √(2x2)x(3x3)x7 √252 = (2x3)√7 = 6√7

You Try √32 4√2 √128 8√2 √380 2√95 √8125 25√13
