[ Pastor / CONGREGATION ] THE CALL TO WORSHIP Matthew 2:1a,c,2,9b,10,11 [ Pastor / CONGREGATION ]

After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem. And they asked,   "WHERE IS THE ONE WHO HAS BEEN BORN KING OF THE JEWS? WE SAW HIS STAR IN THE EAST AND HAVE COME TO WORSHIP HIM."

They went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the Child was.   WHEN THEY SAW THE STAR, THEY WERE OVERJOYED. On coming to the house, they saw the Child with His mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped Him. THEN THEY OPENED THEIR TREASURES AND PRESENTED HIM WITH GIFTS OF GOLD, FRANKINCENSE AND MYRRH.

**THE OPENING HYMN WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE

(1) We three kings of Orient are; Bringing gifts we traverse afar- Field and fountain, moor and mountain Following yonder star O, star of wonder, star of night Star of royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to Thy perfect light.

(2) Born a King of Bethlehem’s plain; Gold I bring to crown Him again. King forever, ceasing never Over us all to reign. O, star of wonder, star of night Star of royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to Thy perfect light.

(3) Frankincense to offer have I; Incense owns a deity nigh, Prayer and praising, All men raising, Worship Him God on high. O, star of wonder, star of night Star of royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to Thy perfect light.

(4) Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume Breathes a life of gathering gloom, Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying, Sealed in the stone-cold tomb. O, star of wonder, star of night Star of royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to Thy perfect light.

(5) Glorious now behold Him arise, King and God and Sacrifice; Alleluia! Alleluia! Earth to heaven replies. O, star of wonder, star of night Star of royal beauty bright, Westward leading, still proceeding, Guide us to Thy perfect light.

THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Acts 10:43   Everyone who believes in Christ will receive forgiveness of sins through His name.

THE SONG OF RESPONSE #294 ‘ONE DAY’

(1a) One day when Heaven was filled with His praises, One day when sin was as black as could be, Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin, Dwelt among men, my Example is He!

(1b) Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified freely forever; One day He’s coming O glorious day!

(2a) One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain, One day they nailed Him to die on the tree; Suffering anguish, despised and rejected: Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!

(2b) Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified freely forever; One day He’s coming O glorious day!

(3a) One day they left Him alone in the garden, One day He rested, from suffering free; Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil; Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He!

(3b) Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified freely forever; One day He’s coming O glorious day!

(4a) One day the grave could conceal Him no longer, One day the stone rolled away from the door; Then He arose, over death He had conquered; Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

(4b) Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified freely forever; One day He’s coming O glorious day!

(5a) One day the trumpet will sound for His coming, One day the skies with His glories will shine; Wonderful day, my belovèd ones bringing; Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!

(5b) Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me; Buried, He carried my sins far away; Rising, He justified freely forever; One day He’s coming O glorious day!

A TIME OF SHARING WITH GOD’S CHILDREN OF ALL AGES

ACTS 1:6-11   When the disciples met together with Jesus, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?“ He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

After Jesus said this, He was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two spiritual beings appeared dressed in white and stood beside them. “Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky?” This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, WILL COME BACK in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."

THE SONG OF PREPARATION #290 AS WITH GLADNESS, MEN OF OLD

(1) As with gladness, men of old Did the guiding star behold As with joy they hailed its light Leading onward, beaming bright So, most glorious Lord, may we Evermore be led to Thee.

(2) As with joyful steps they sped To that lowly manger bed There to bend the knee before Him Whom Heaven and earth adore; So may we with willing feet Ever seek Thy mercy seat.

(3) As they offered gifts most rare At that manger rude and bare; So may we with holy joy, Pure and free from sin’s alloy, All our costliest treasures bring, Christ, to Thee, our heavenly King.

(4) Holy Jesus, every day Keep us in the narrow way; And, when earthly things are past, Bring our ransomed souls at last Where they need no star to guide, Where no clouds Thy glory hide.

(5) In the heavenly country bright, Need they no created light; You its Light, its Joy, its Crown, You its Sun which goes not down; There forever may we sing Alleluias to our King!

COMPLETING THE MISSION: Bayshore Gardens Community Church THE SERMON COMPLETING THE MISSION: THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST KEY VERSE: Mark 13:32   But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. So be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.  Bayshore Gardens Community Church Dr. Daniel Herlein

Both the Hebrew Scriptures that Jesus will return again. and the New Testament are packed full of promises that Jesus will return again. The Hebrew Scriptures: 1,845 references The New Testament: 318 references

Christ’s return will be a PERSONAL coming

Christ’s return will be a PHYSICAL coming

Christ’s return will be a VISIBLE coming

Christ’s return will be a SUDDEN coming

Christ’s return will be a GLORIOUS, TRIUMPHANT coming

Jesus tells us to ALWAYS BE IN A STATE OF READINESS AND PREPARATION.

OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY! Jesus declared that we are to “love the Lord our God with all our heart, and all our mind and all our soul and all our strength. It really does matter whether we will greet the Lord when He returns as an friend or as a stranger.

JESUS’ PROMISE TO RETURN (Revelation Chapter 22:12-13) “Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me which I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

THE APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;

From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic1 Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen 1- catholic means “universal”

“THE GRACE OF BE WITH GOD’S PEOPLE.” The very last verse of the bible (Revelation 22:21) offers each of us a very special final blessing . . . “THE GRACE OF THE LORD JESUS BE WITH GOD’S PEOPLE.”

The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer OUR FATHER, WHO ART IN HEAVEN, HALLOWED BE THY NAME. THY KINGDOM COME, THY WILL BE DONE, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN. GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD, AND FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS; AND LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL. FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY FOREVER AMEN.

THE DOXOLOGY Praise God from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. AMEN

O THAT WILL BE GLORY (1) When all my labors and trials are over, And I am safe on that beautiful shore, Just to be near the dear Lord I adore, Will through the ages be glory for me.   O that will be glory for me, Glory for me, Glory for me, When by His grace, I shall look on His face, That will be glory, be glory for me.

(2) When, by the gift of His infinite grace, I am accorded in heaven a place, Just to be there and to look on His face, Will through the ages be glory for me. O that will be glory for me, Glory for me, Glory for me, When by His grace, I shall look on His face, That will be glory, be glory for me.

(3) Friends will be there I have loved long ago; Joy like a river around me will flow; Yet, just a smile from my Savior, I know, Will through the ages be glory for me. O that will be glory for me, Glory for me, Glory for me, When by His grace, I shall look on His face, That will be glory, be glory for me.

THE PASTORAL BENEDICTION Go forth from this place as God’s elect and covenant people . . . AMEN
