Trainee doctors Would be better to be seen by GP who knows you, and treats you on one to one basis ie continuity, visiting this medical centre now is like visiting the walk in clinic at Broad lane Sheffield. We are sorry to hear that you are not happy with our we manage our appointments. We are a training practice…

Very Caring Practice. My husband became terminally ill in December The care given by this practice was excellent. We were both given full support and we were always able to contact a dr. whenever we needed help. My husband was visited at home every week by the same dr. If there was a problem, a dr. would always come out the same day. All staff at the practice went out of their way to be helpful and to make sure that we had everything we needed. I was also given their full support as my husband's primary carer. I would recommend this practice to anybody.

Benefits; Trainees

Challenges; Trainees

Benefits of General Practice for Foundation Trainees Awareness of General Practitioner’s work Train future hospital doctors to communicate better with primary care and better recognise the role of the GP Inspire/confirm interest in pursuing GP career Structured and supportive learning environment Experience of conditions less commonly seen/taught in hospital E.g. dermatology, ENT, minor illnesses, psychiatry Enables development of doctor-patient relationship and follow-up Improvement to communication skills Encourages trainee to become an independent practitioner formulate own diagnoses and management plans Allows experience of special interest areas

Ways to improve the experience Tutors must be supportive – dedicated debrief time for each session Provide opportunities for some hospital based work / special interest areas Dedicated tutorial time once a fortnight Providing trainee with own room Give ability to manage own workload Accommodate trainee preferences with regards to location Allocate students to successful practices?
