Warm Up- 7 th Grade Thursday, August 27 The Esposito family went hiking on a tall mountain. Mrs. Esposito picked up a shell fossil on the top of the mountain. The fossil was once a shelled organism that lived in the ocean. The family had different ideas about how the fossil ended up there. This is what they thought: Mrs. Esposito: A bird picked up the organism and dropped the shell as it flew over the mountains Mr. Esposito: Water, ice, or wind eventually carried the fossil to the top of the mountain Rosa: A mountain formed in an area that was once covered by ocean Sofia: The fossil flowed out of a volcano that rose up from the ocean floor Who do you agree with and WHY? Homework Due Today: Nothing due today Homework: * Science Fair Hypothesis due Friday * Finish “Journey on the Rock Cycle” if not completed in class

Warm Up-7 th Grade Friday, August 28 Three friends were walking along a beach in New England. They looked closely at the sand and noticed it was made up of tiny particles of rock. They had different ideas about where the sand came from. Molly: I think the sand came from distant mountains and landforms Fidel: I think the sand came from rocks on the ocean floor Lynn: I think the sand came from undersea mountains and sea floor formations Which friend do you agree with and why? Homework Due Today: Science Fair Hypothesis due today Homework: No Homework
