The new University VP for Research Tim Mulcahy was previously at UW Madison. He told Earl and me that UW floated Francis Halzen to a maximum of $25 million for ICECUBE and I believe he is expecting some sort of float request with respect to NOvA. The useful amounts are big enough that this needs to be a well-structured deal with real guarantees for the University before it goes tens of millions in the hole. University President Bob Bruininks and his wife Susan Hagstrum are visiting Soudan on Aug. 16 for lunch. It would be good to have a general idea of what we might need to discuss it with him then.
