Lab Requirements * AP Biology

1. Include the title: Inquiry into Cell Division- Mitosis as well as the date ( ) Abstract: 1. OBJECTIVES--List the first two bulleted objectives on the 4 th page of your lab manual. 2. RELEVANT TERMS—mitosis, meiosis, MPF, CDK, cytokinesis, G 1 checkpoint, G 2 checkpoint Introduction: Include background information and purpose of the lab; We will brainstorm a hypothesis for part 3 as a class.

MATERIALS and PROCEDURES: You will be using Microscopes Slides-prepared onion root tip Karyotypes (3)- healthy human cells, cervical cells, leukemia cells Write the procedures provided in your lab manual; however, SUMMARIZE these!

- Include diagrams of each stage of mitosis (6 of them) - Include the data table (table 1- Mitosis Phase Counts) - For part 3, Loss of Cell Control in Cancer, please Include the following table: HEALTHY CELLSCASE 1: HeLa CELLSCASE 2: PHILADELPHIA CHROMOSOMES # OF CHROMOSOMES APPEARANCE For each case, answer these questions on the bottom of page 7: 1.Do your observations support your hypothesis? 2.If not, what type of information might you need to know in order to understand your observations? 3.If yes, what type of information can you find that would validate your conclusions?

Provide what is asked for on your scoring guide. In addition, you will have many LAB QUESTIONS to answer. PAGE 6: Two questions under heading FOR THE LAB REPORT PAGE 8: Case 1: 2 questions Case 2: 5 questions
