Overview  Publishing company  500 employees  Vancouver  Range of books for the public  Local market – in areas the major publishers doo not see as being profitable

Current System  Network with standard publishing software  Used by staff to develop and store text  When a book is finished > printer > distribute it  Use their own printer, local printers and sometimes national or overseas companies

The changing publishing industry  Publishing industry is more developed with the increased use of technology  Pressure from existing clients on CP to publish for these devices  Writers are beginning to self publish their e- books

The changing publishing industry  Therefore, CP might need to develop new digital publishing section of the business  They could form partnerships with other publishers and distributors  Companies that have skills and knowledge that CP doesn’t have.

Results from questionnaire:  58% are female  62% are ages  37% read occasionally  4% never read  49% prefer using traditional books  10% prefer using e-books

Results from questionnaire:  89% have a device that allows them to read  33% believe that there are no issues related to e-books  17% think that the main issue is downloading speed  5% only think that the issue is security
