How big is the Challenge A wide range of RF's for primary and secondary recovery 100 % 50 % 0 % Aspiration to exceed 70% Recovery factor Better fields, e.g. high k sand, carbonates Complex fields, e.g. fractured carbonates, thin oil rims Difficult fields, e.g. low permeability, heavy oil Locked Fields, e.g. very sour, very low permeability, extreem heavy Field 1 Field 2 Field 3 Field 4 Field 5 Field 6 Cumulative STOIIP

Better Waterfloods results in Better EOR Better WF è Better EOR 0.2 Very successful floods 0.15 0.1 Tertiary recovery Less successful floods 0.05 0.2 0.4 0.6 0.8 Primary plus waterflood recovery
Chemical EOR Project in the U.S.
Chemical EOR Production in the U.S.
Field Scale Chemical EOR Projects? Are EOR alternatives dissapearing these days to allow for CEOR to deliver the promised barrels? Is CEOR robust enough to point to an unambiguous commercial phase? How well developed and managed the waterflood needs to be to provide a solid ground for CEOR? Are we minimizing the importance of having a trained and skillfull workforce (engineers and operators) to be successful?
