Introduction n The Civil War was one of the most tragic events in American History. This unit will provide the students with a deeper understanding of the events that led up to the war, the people who played key roles in the war, and the effects that the war played on American society, both then and today.

Activities n The students will mark on a map the Mason-Dixon Line, the states that made up the Union and the Confederacy. n The Students will explore the situations that led up to the Civil War. n The students will read Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe.
