Citizenship / Behavior Issues

2 We have a situation  There have been issues in class that warrant reminders about the class rules and good citizenship in our classroom community

3 Remember the class rules:  All school rules apply  Respect is mandatory  Safety is crucial  On time, on task  Professional learning environment  Business Language Only  Timely submission of assignments  Responsible for your own grade

4  These rules are not being followed by all of us  And we are all paying the price

What happens when the group follows these rules?

6 Positive results  You are treated as adults  You feel respected  Learning happens without distractions

7 When rules are followed:  You are self-directed, independent workers,  Each working toward a common end  Skill building and work readiness

8 When rules are followed:  This is an adult, comfortable place to work

What happens when these rules are broken, and people are disrespectful?

10 Price Tags of Disrespect  An uncomfortable, disrespectful environment  Learning is disrupted

11 Price Tags of Disrespect  You are treated as elementary school students

12 Price Tags of Disrespect  Privileges are revoked  You will be teacher driven, working to do just the assignments, with little independence or freedom  This becomes an oppressive, controlled environment

13  Specific consequences for poor behavior will be handed down

14 Repercussions  Student conference with teacher discussing behavior and expectations  Calls home  Detention  Referrals  Grade reductions - remember that participation is 1/3 of the grade

Not Nice at All!

What kind of an environment would you prefer?

Choose!

18 What can you do?  What are your personal responsibilities in readjusting our workplace environment?

19 Decide…  What do we do as a team to make these adjustments?

20 Then…  How will be able to measure our level of success in setting a professional learning environment?

What do we want to do differently? How can we make that happen?

22 Remember  Your grade and your future are at stake!

It is up to everyone, as a group, to open the doors of success…
