Rules and Expectations 5th grade students are expected to: Be ready and focused on the tasks at hand each day. Be positive, respectful, and courteous to others. Exemplify leadership for others to model. Report to class on time daily. Return homework/projects/class work on time when it is due. Learn and grow into brilliant minds. Green

Agendas How do they work? Students use them to record their homework assignments everyday. Teachers use them to communicate with parents. Classroom Routines Morning Routines 7:30a.m.-8:00 a.m. Students unpack and sign in for attendance Students begin morning assignment Exploratory Time 8:00a.m.-8:50a.m. Teachers introduce/review standard and project Students work on standards-based projects Teachers facilitate and provide support for all students

Drop Everything And Read Used for early finishers Allows students independent reading time Students may use it to log in for their reading logs Practice reading books on their reading level

It’s A Priority! Priority list provided for the students Checklist provided for assignments A reminder when assignments are due

What Did I Miss? Created for students when they are absent Hub for extra copies of assignments Each student has their own “What Did I Miss” folder

ARE’s Discipline Plan Safe Organized Accountable Respectful Routines and rituals will be taught and followed daily to build a positive learning environment. However, if students do not follow the classroom rules, the following steps will be taken:   Verbal Warning Note in the agenda/deduct Scholar Dollar/Dojo points Opportunity room/contact parent Office Referral Safe Organized Accountable Respectful When positive behaviors are noticed throughout the building, faculty and staff will give the student’s SOAR card a hole punch. Students meeting the required number of punches at the end of the week will be rewarded with a treat. Cheeley

Scholar Dollars What is it? Rewards system generated to encourage students to do their best academically, socially, and to become overall great leaders! Students track their own payments/deposits in their binders. Students receive rewards monthly. Cheeley

Attendance Students MUST be in class by 7:45 to be marked present. Students arriving after 7:45 must be brought into the front office for check-in by parent/guardian. If there is a change in transportation a signed note from the parent must be provided or teachers will follow the original transportation routine for your child. Green
