I can do all things through Christ Part 3 How to live courageously

“Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.” Joshua 1:6 Why did God tell Joshua 3 times to be Strong and Courageous?

He was about to: A. Enter uncharted waters B. Do something he had never done before (fight) C. Face overwhelming giants

How can I live courageously? 1. Stand on the Promises. “I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.” Joshua 1: 3

2. Sense the Presence. “As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Joshua 1:5b

3. Stay the Path “…do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.” Joshua 1:7.b

4. Start the Process. “Go through the camp and tell the people, 'Get your supplies ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you for your own.” V.11

How to build courage into my life 1. Go public through Baptism “Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe – Christ’s life!” Gal 2:27

2. Pray for Boldness “Pray and ask God to give me the right words as I boldly tell others about the Lord…” Eph 6:20 (LB)

3. Expect God to use me. “I expect and hope that I will have the courage now, as always, to show the greatness of Christ in my life here on earth.” Phil 1:20

4. Own up to my sins “If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.” John 1:8

5. Stand up for what is right “Stand true to what you believe. Be courageous. Be Strong.” 1 Cor 16:13

6. Speak up for Christ “God doesn’t want us to be shy with His gifts, but bold and loving and sensible. So don’t be embarrassed to speak up for our Master.” 2 Tim 1:7-8
